Dr. Chowdhury, Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering, will present “In Silico Modeling of Drug Ranibizumab Kinetics in Human Eye”. Please see the abstract here.

Abstract: Neovascular ocular diseases such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), macular edema, and diabetic retinopathy are irreversible eye diseases that cause abnormal angiogenesis, which may contribute to permanent vision loss. Ranibizumab is an FDA-approved drug that controls angiogenesis against vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A). We developed an in-silico 3D model to observe the drug ranibizumab transport in the human vitreous near the macula region and to calculate the half-life.
