A&M-Texarkana Announces New Educational Partnership with Red River Credit Union

TEXARKANA, Texas – Texas A&M University-Texarkana and Red River Credit Union (RRCU) have announced a new academic partnership between the financial institution and the university designed to make it easier and more affordable for RRCU employees to attend the university. The partnership was formalized on December 6th by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties during a small ceremony at RRCU’s location at 2700 University Avenue.

“We are thrilled to enter into this innovative partnership with our friends at Red River Credit Union,” said A&M-Texarkana President Dr. Ross Alexander. “As a university, we are committed to providing educational solutions and pathways for hard-working employees at our partner firms who can pursue flexible, reputable, and affordable online degrees while working full-time.”

“The opportunity to partner with TAMUT in an affordable college education for our valued employees and to assist in financial education for its students and staff is truly an honor,” said Brad Bailey, Red River Credit Union President/CEO. “RRCU is looking forward to a long-term partnership with TAMUT as it continues to grow and prosper.”

Under the terms of the agreement all full-time employees of the credit union will receive a 25% tuition discount on all undergraduate, graduate, certificate, or micro-credential programs delivered in-person, online, or through a hybrid format. There will also be no application fee. In addition to the tuition discount, any eligible employee who is a new student to A&M-Texarkana will receive the First Flight Scholarship, which gives the new student their first class free if they are enrolled in at least 6 hours of undergraduate or graduate courses.

“Red River Credit Union is excited to partner with A&M-Texarkana to provide a tuition discount for our employees,” said Felicia Drake, Chief Human Resource Officer for RRCU. “The discount will be a generous perk that we will add to our current benefit package to retain and recruit top talent in the communities we serve. RRCU is fortunate to have several employees that are A&M-Texarkana alumni. We are hopeful the tuition discount will give our employees more opportunities for growth and development.”

Employees wishing to take advantage of the new partnership must meet the admissions standards of the program to which they apply and must remain in good academic standing.
