TEXARKANA, Texas – Texas A&M University-Texarkana has expanded the number of degree programs that can be completed entirely online and launched a new website to assist students interested in online-only degrees. The University now boasts 23 academic programs that can be completed 100% online, including both undergraduate and graduate programs. The new website, www.tamut.edu/online, is designed to offer a variety of support to students who are interested in online degrees. Prospective students can browse the online degree options, apply for admission, and learn about scholarship opportunities all from one convenient webpage.
Online degree programs make attaining a college degree possible for many people who would not be able to attend classes on campus. Working adults, military personnel, and students in rural areas all benefit from the ability to complete a degree online. Many of these, particularly working adults, have previously earned some college credit but have never received a degree. According to data from the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center, there are believed to be 2.6 million working age adults in Texas who fall into the category of “Some College, No Credential” (SCNC). Texas A&M University-Texarkana’s online degree programs make it easier than ever for them to reengage in the academic process to complete their education.
“We meet students where they are,” said A&M-Texarkana President Dr. Ross Alexander. “Not every student has the ability or wants to take classes in person. We offer a significant number of academic programs that can be completed online, making a degree from Texas A&M University-Texarkana truly flexible, attainable, and affordable.”
