A&M-Texarkana’s 100% Online Graduate Degree in Instructional Design and Technology Prepares Graduates to Shape the Future of Learning

TEXARKANA, Texas – Texas A&M University-Texarkana’s 100% online Master of Science in Instructional Design and Technology is preparing today’s professionals to lead the future of learning by combining cutting-edge technology with practical instructional strategies designed for today's workforce needs.

The program is delivered asynchronously, allowing students to complete coursework on their own schedules without the need to attend classes at specific times. This flexibility makes the degree especially valuable for working professionals who want to continue advancing in their careers while earning a graduate degree.

Through an outcome-driven curriculum, students gain practical experience applying instructional design principles to real-world challenges across education, business, healthcare, government, and industry settings. Coursework emphasizes the effective integration of emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, and evidence-based practices to enhance learning experiences and improve organizational performance.

"The M.S. in Instructional Design and Technology is a competency-based program designed for professionals who want to leverage technology to improve learning and performance," said Dr. Kevin Williams, Associate Professor of Instructional Technology. "Students gain hands-on experience solving authentic challenges while developing skills in instructional design, emerging technologies, and artificial intelligence. The result is a degree that prepares graduates to lead innovation and design."

Graduates of the program are prepared for a wide range of in-demand careers including instructional designer, learning and development specialist, corporate trainer, educational technology specialist, e-learning developer, curriculum designer, and training manager. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projects employment for Training and Development Specialists—a category that includes many corporate instructional designers and learning experience designers—to grow 11% over the next eight years.

The degree also provides valuable preparation for leadership roles in K-12 education, higher education, government agencies, and healthcare, where organizations are increasingly seeking professionals who can create engaging technology-enhanced learning experiences. The BLS projects approximately 21,900 openings per year for Instructional Coordinators, a category that includes curriculum specialists and instructional designers working in K-12 education and higher education environments.

As the demand for innovative approaches to training education and workforce development continues to grow, A&M-Texarkana Instructional Design and Technology graduates will be uniquely positioned to help organizations increase educational innovation and performance in an increasingly digital world.
