Student Government Association

Student Government Association

The Student Government Association (SGA), serves as the official governing body representing the entire student body at Texas A&M University-Texarkana. Comprised of dedicated student leaders from across campus, SGA exists to ensure that every student’s voice is heard and valued. Our representatives work closely with University administration, faculty, and campus departments to advocate for student needs, address concerns, and help shape the overall student experience.

Whether it’s improving campus life, supporting new student initiatives, enhancing traditions, or promoting student involvement, SGA is committed to creating meaningful change that reflects the interests of the student body. Through open communication, leadership opportunities, and active engagement with students, SGA serves as the bridge between students and University leadership. This commitment to advocacy, representation, and service is what makes SGA the Official Voice of the Students.

Leadership Opportunities

Student Government currently has six officer positions; President, Vice President, Secretary, Financial Officer, Parliamentarian, and the Public Relations Officer.

Learn more about each position:

President

The President serves as the chief student representative and leader of the Student Government Association. They oversee all SGA operations, preside over meetings, advocate for the student body, and work closely with University administration to address student concerns and improve campus life. The President also helps guide the organization’s goals, initiatives, and overall vision.

Vice President

The Vice President supports the President in carrying out the mission and operations of SGA. They advise officers and members on proper meeting protocol, voting procedures, and constitutional interpretation to maintain order and professionalism during meetings.
