Academic Support and Services

TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) provides free tutoring services each semester for all TRIO SSS participants. TRIO SSS participants have access to Virtual Online Tutoring (VOLT) through our partner Academic Tutoring & Test Prep. Participants will be able to schedule an appointment with a tutor in any subject area via Zoom. Additionally, we have two fantastic Peer Tutors that focus in the areas of Nursing & Engineering. *Please note that our office partners with the Eagle Learning Center to provide participants with additional tutoring and other peer services free of charge to all registered students. The Eagle Center provides tutoring in Math, English, Government, History, Psychology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Accounting. They also provide Tutor.com, Supplemental Instruction, Writing Studio, and Success Series Workshops. Please visit their website at the following link for more information.

Pathful Explore

Pathful Explore provides a combination of interactive tools, assessments, and real-world exploration videos to empower students so they can explore diverse career pathways.

Supplemental Grant Aid

Supplemental Grant Aid is federal grant money for eligible TRIO SSS participants. TRIO SSS participants can apply during the Fall and Spring semester by completing the supplemental grant aid application. Grant amounts depend on need and fund availability. Freshmen and Sophomore participants will receive funding priority. Qualifications can be found below:

Qualifications:

  • Student must be a Pell Grant recipient for the current semester/session (i.e., the semester of application).
  • Student must be enrolled full-time
  • Student must meet minimum unmet need exceeding $750 as determined by the Financial Aid Office.
  • Student must be a freshman or sophomore while active in the SSS program. Juniors and seniors are eligible on a limited basis, i.e., until TRIO SSS Grant Aid has fulfilled freshmen and sophomore participants’ unmet need.
  • Student must be a full-time, active participant in the A&M-Texarkana TRIO SSS Project, as evidenced by a minimum of two meetings with the Director, Coordinator, or Administrative Associate and TRIO SSS Orientation, TRIO SSS Handbook Acknowledgment Form, and Financial Literacy Workshop or assigned virtual Financial Literacy lesson, at the time of application.
  • Student must have a 2.8 institutional G.P.A.
  • Student must submit a brief (3-5 sentences) statement including the reason(s) for requesting grant aid within the box on page 4.
