Parking and Driving Regulations on A&M-Texarkana Campus
Texas A&M University-Texarkana has established parking and traffic regulations to maintain a safe and organized campus environment. These rules apply to all individuals who walk, drive, or park on university property and are authorized under the Texas Education Code (Sections 51.202, 51.203, 51.205, 51.206, 51.207, and 51.210).
Driving and parking on campus is considered a privilege-not a right. All drivers are expected to understand and follow the university’s traffic and parking regulations. Students and employees who wish to park on campus must purchase a parking permit from the Business Office, located in the BASS building. While a permit allows for campus parking, it does not guarantee a specific parking space. The university is not responsible for any fire, theft, damage, or loss involving a vehicle or its contents while on campus.
The University Police Department (UPD) is responsible for enforcing all parking and traffic regulations. Officers may issue county citations for serious violations, such as parking in fire lanes or accessible (ADA) spaces without proper authorization. These violations can affect an individual’s driving record. Campus parking and traffic regulations are enforced at all times.
Unless otherwise posted, the speed limits on campus are as follows: 30 MPH on main campus roads, 25 MPH on Bringle Lake Road, and 10 MPH in all parking lots.
To drive on campus, individuals must hold a valid driver’s license, and vehicles must have valid license plates and current liability insurance in accordance with Texas state law. Pedestrians have the right of way at marked crosswalks, while those crossing outside of a crosswalk must yield to vehicles.
